Ronaldo’s 978th goal seals Al Nassr comeback win

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 978th professional career goal as Al Nassr came from behind to beat Al Taawoun 2-1 on Friday, maintaining their perfect start to the Saudi Pro League season.

Ronaldo secured a 2-1 victory over Al Taawoun, extending Al Nassr's perfect record and keeping them atop the Saudi Pro League.

Al Nassr were stunned early when Bassam Al-Hurayji put Al Taawoun ahead in the 11th minute.

The hosts responded just before halftime, with Samu Costa restoring parity in the fifth minute of stoppage time after a well-worked move involving Sadio Mane.

Ronaldo then completed the turnaround five minutes into the second half. The 41-year-old Portuguese forward got a decisive touch on Mohamed Simakan’s goal-bound effort, sending the ball into the net to put Al Nassr 2-1 ahead.
