Women’s Asia Cup begins Friday, Bangladesh start campaign on August 31

The 10th edition of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup begins in Dubai today (August 28), with eight teams from across Asia taking part in the tournament. The competition will conclude with the final on September 13, with all matches scheduled to be played in Dubai.

The teams have been divided into two groups. Group A comprises India, Pakistan, Thailand and Hong Kong China, while Group B features defending champions Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

Bangladesh women’s team will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Indonesia on August 31. They will then face the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka in the group stage as they look to make a strong impact in the tournament.

Hong Kong China and Thailand will face each other in the opening match today. Defending champions Sri Lanka will take on hosts the United Arab Emirates the following day. One of the most anticipated matches of the tournament, between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, is scheduled for September 5.

Conditions in Dubai could make the balance between spin bowling and batting crucial throughout the tournament. Sri Lanka will be aiming to retain their title, while India and the other participating teams will also be looking to mount a strong challenge for the trophy.
