Police surround house in Bhashantek over reported weapon

Detective Branch (DB) police have surrounded a house in the capital's Bhashantek following a report that a man inside was carrying a weapon and wanted to surrender.

A DB team surrounded the house on Saturday afternoon and launched an operation, a DB official said.

According to the official, a man called DB police and gave the address of the house, saying he had a weapon and no longer wanted to remain involved in crime.

The caller allegedly told police that he wanted to surrender and asked officers to come and take him into custody along with the weapon.

Police have surrounded the house and are carrying out an operation inside, the official said.

However, the information provided by the caller could not be independently verified immediately.
