Govt plans to raise KPM production: BCIC chairman

KAPTAI, RANGAMATI, Aug 29: The government will not shut down the Karnaphuli Paper Mills (KPM) Ltd and will consider ways to increase its production, said Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Chairman Dr Md Mahmudur Rahman.

He made the remarks while visiting KPM in Kaptai Upazila of Rangamati at around 11am on Saturday.

During the visit, the BCIC chairman inspected different sections of the mill and reviewed its overall operations, production system and current situation on the ground.

Later, he attended a view-exchange meeting with heads of different departments and officials at the KPM guesthouse.
At the meeting, Mahmudur Rahman said, “The government will not shut down KPM. It will consider how production at the mill can be increased.”
