Python rescued from Sreemangal cattle farm

A huge python rescued unharmed from a cattle farm in Sreemangal of Moulvibazar and later handed over to the Sreemangal Forest Department’s range office.

The incident took place at around 10:00 AM on Sunday (August 30) at the farm of Jasim Uddin in Ichhpur area of the upazila.

Jasim Uddin, the farm owner said, "the cattle suddenly began making unusual noises and moving restlessly in the morning. Hearing the cattle’s cries, he went inside the farm and found a huge python there. The sight of the snake caused panic among the farm workers."

At one point, the python came out of the farm due to the cattle’s continued cries and movement. As news of the snake spread among local residents, many people gathered at the scene to see it.

Later, the farm owner informed the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation. Following the report, foundation director Swapan Deb Sajal, Sanjit Deb and environmentalist Rajdeep Deb Dip arrived at the scene. They carefully rescued the python.

After the rescue, the snake was safely taken to the Sreemangal Forest Department’s range office and handed over to the authorities. Officials concerned said the Forest Department would take the necessary steps after assessing the snake’s physical condition and identifying a suitable habitat for its release.
