
filps Ltd, the DIFC and ADGM regulated fintech and digital banking infrastructure company, recently announced the appointment of Abul Kashem Md Shirin, former managing director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank PLC and current Independent Director on the Board of Shimanto Bank PLC, as its Adviser for Bangladesh.
He spent more than four decades in the banking sector, including over nine years as managing director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank. Before becoming CEO, he served as the bank's deputy managing director for nearly eight years and headed its IT division for six years after joining the bank in 2003, says a press release.
During his tenure, Dutch-Bangla Bank expanded its ATM and POS network and its mobile financial services platform Rocket. The bank also introduced biometric agent banking, EMV cards, QR payments and app-based banking, according to filps.
Before joining Dutch-Bangla Bank, Shirin served as deputy general manager and head of IT at BASIC Bank.
