Salman Shah’s father denied rumors of his son marrying Shabnur

One of the most famous on-screen pairs in Bangladeshi movies were that of Salman Shah and Shabnur. The pair was also rumored to have been dating in real life with some rumors even saying they had tied the knot in secret.

On July 19, 1996, Salman Shah addressed the rumor in a press conference in Dhaka. He clarified that Shabnur was more of a little sister to him whom he loved very much. He further clarified that he was already married.

Salman Shah’s father backed his son in the clarification and dismissed the rumors.

"I know my son. I also know Shabnur. Salman could never do something like this. Surely, there must be some conspiracy against him," he said.

The press conference was organized to discuss a ban on Salman Shah placed on him by the Producers’ association.
