Storms may hit 12 regions by friday morning

Rain is falling at times around the country with the maximum rainfall of 139mm recorded in Hatiya, Noakhali within the last 24 hours. Along with the rain, storms might hit 12 districts within the next morning of Friday (September 4).

As per the river-port forecast of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, gusty or squally winds in the south or southeast direction with speed of 45 to 60km/h together with rain or thundershowers might occur in Tangail, Mymensingh, Bogura, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet by 9 AM Friday. River ports in the above-mentioned regions should show the local warning signal No. 1.

Besides the maximum rainfall of 139mm in Hatiya, the rainfall of 111mm occurred in Khepupara, 78mm in Cox’s Bazar, 65mm in Bhola, Ramgati, Lakshmipur, and 54mm in Jashore during the past 24 hours.

The Meteorological office has predicted rain or thundershowers for five days ahead with heavy rainfall in some places around the country.
