Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC has won the 'ESG Excellence Awards 2026' in three categories for its contributions to occupational health and safety, climate action and sustainable product innovation.
The awards, jointly organised by the United Nations Global Compact Network Bangladesh (GCNB) and ESG Institute Bangladesh, recognised Walton in the categories of ‘Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety Improvement,’ ‘Excellence in Championing Climate Action,’ and ‘Excellence in Sustainable Product Innovation.’
Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC received the awards at a gala event titled ‘ESG Excellence Awards 2026’ at Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday night (September 5). Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo, the chief guest at the event, handed over the award crest to Walton Hi-Tech Additional Managing Director Mohammad Yousuf Ali.
Walton Hi-Tech Chief Marketing Officer Zoheb Ahmed, Senior Additional Executive Directors Rabiul Islam Milton and Md Mostafizur Rahman, and Head of EHS and Sustainability Department Mostafizur Rahman Raju were also present. Ambassadors of several countries, including Denmark and Sweden, as well as representatives from the European Union, GCNB and ESG Institute Bangladesh, attended the event.
Reacting to the recognition, Mohammad Yousuf Ali said the awards acknowledged Walton’s continued efforts to ensure workplace safety, address climate change and develop sustainable products.
He said sustainable development is an integral part of Walton’s business strategy and that the company has been adopting environmentally responsible technologies and policies across its manufacturing processes and workplaces.
According to Ali, Walton has reduced carbon emissions through the use of renewable energy at its manufacturing facilities and the adoption of green technologies in production processes. The company has also introduced technology-driven safety management systems and regular training programmes to improve employee awareness and workplace safety.
Walton said it is also focusing on energy efficiency, green technologies and environmentally friendly materials in the development of sustainable products.
Earlier this year, Walton won the 'SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026' in three categories, including recognition as the year’s most sustainable electronics manufacturing enterprise, for its contributions to climate and environmental protection and the development of clean and energy-efficient technologies.
