Tk 4.87cr surplus to be refunded to 4,341 Hajj pilgrims: Kaikobad

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad on Sunday said Bangladesh’s government-managed Hajj operations in 2026 generated a surplus of Tk 4.87 crore, which will be refunded to 4,341 pilgrims who performed Hajj under the government scheme.

The minister disclosed the information at a press conference held at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

He said the surplus would be returned directly to the pilgrims’ respective bank accounts.

According to the minister, the government offered three Hajj packages in 2026. Under Hajj Package-1 (Special), pilgrims were accommodated at Hotel Bullara Al Durrah, described as the closest hotel to the Holy Kaaba. Pilgrims staying at the hotel will receive refunds according to their package and room arrangements. Each pilgrim under the full package will receive Tk 38,697.32, while those under the short package will receive Tk 46,888.40.

Those who opted for a two-bed upgrade will receive Tk 164,190.56 each, while pilgrims who took the two-bed upgrade along with the short package will receive Tk 180,572.71 each. Pilgrims under the three-bed upgrade will receive Tk 118,072.82 each, while those combining the three-bed upgrade with the short package will receive Tk 131,735.53 each.

Under Hajj Package-2, pilgrims were accommodated in Houses 2, 3 and 4 near the Hajj Mission in Makkah. Pilgrims staying at House No. 2, or Hotel Luluat Al Tawhid, will receive different amounts depending on their package and room arrangements. Each pilgrim under the general package will receive Tk 2,505.49, while short-package pilgrims will receive Tk 8,730.70.

Those who opted for a two-bed upgrade will receive Tk 62,331.79 each, while pilgrims who took the two-bed upgrade along with the short package will receive Tk 78,713.94 each. Pilgrims under the three-bed upgrade will receive Tk 3,287.36 each, while those who combined the three-bed upgrade with the short package will receive Tk 8,431.36 each.
