Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed the Ministry of Education to formulate a comprehensive policy for nationalising non-government educational institutions instead of processing isolated proposals.
Under the upcoming policy, non-government educational institutions that fulfill set criteria and conditions will be brought under the nationalisation scheme in phases.
The Prime Minister issued the directive to Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon on October 1, according to an official from the Ministry of Education who confirmed the matter on Sunday night.
Ministry sources stated that individual proposals for nationalising schools and colleges were being submitted continuously from across the country. Addressing the issue, the Prime Minister instructed the minister to establish a clear policy framework.
The official added that the new guidelines will explicitly define priority categories, required criteria, and assessment standards for selecting institutions for nationalisation.
