Bangladesh has established democracy through a fair election after nearly 17 years and many sacrifices, said Zainul Abdin Faruk, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Shipping.
He said the parliamentary committee and the Ministry of Shipping would work together to implement the ‘Bangladesh First’ policy announced by the prime minister.
Faruk made the remarks while chairing the first meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Monday (October 5).
At the meeting, he stressed ensuring honesty and accountability in all activities. He said the ministry’s activities would be carried out by giving priority to the views of all concerned.
He also urged officials, employees and committee members to extend full support to the democratic government and work together to build a prosperous and developed Bangladesh through cooperation between the government and administration.
The meeting discussed the overall development of the shipping sector, improving service quality, ensuring transparency and accountability, and making the activities of various departments, directorates, agencies and organisations under the ministry more dynamic.
Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister Md Rajib Ahsan, and committee members Md Hafiz Ibrahim, Md Mahmudul Haque Rubel, Anichur Rahman, Sayeed Ahmed, Sanjida Yasmin, Md Nazmul Huda and Abdul Hannan Masud attended the meeting.
The Ministry of Shipping secretary, directors general and senior officials of its departments and agencies, heads of organisations, and officials from the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were also present.
