A gazette notification has been issued appointing 40 more candidates who were left out of the 49th special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued the notification on Monday night (October 5).

Last Thursday, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said at the Secretariat that the gazette for 46 candidates who had been left out of the notification for the special education cadre of the 49th BCS would be published on Monday.

He said the Public Service Commission had declared 665 candidates successful. Eight candidates failed to pass the medical examination, leaving 657 candidates.

“There has been no discrimination based on political identity. The gazette is being issued in phases,” the home minister said.

He said a person had posted on social media that he would commit suicide and alleged that the person had been using social media to create unrest. He also said the person had been a leader of a banned student organisation at a hall of Dhaka University.

Salahuddin Ahmed said the government would not discriminate against anyone based on political identity, but candidates would have to wait for the verification process.

“If there is a serious allegation of a crime against anyone, police verification is conducted. In such cases, one per cent or two in a thousand candidates may be excluded because of such offences,” he said.
