DB police arrest 10 suspected muggers in Cumilla

Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested 10 identified members of an alleged mugging gang in Cumilla city.

They were arrested in separate raids in different parts of the city on Thursday night. DB Officer-in-Charge Shamsul Alam Shah confirmed the arrests on Friday afternoon.

Police said they launched the drive following repeated reports of an increase in mugging and theft in Cumilla, aiming to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.

The 10 suspects have cases filed against them at different police stations over theft, mugging and other offences, police said.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to lying in wait in different parts of the city and snatching cash and mobile phones from people at knifepoint.

After legal procedures, the arrestees were sent to court on Friday afternoon. The court later ordered them to be sent to jail.
