Four returning from wedding in Ctg killed in road crash

Four people, including the driver and passengers of a microbus, have been killed after their vehicle was rammed by a covered van in the College Bazar area of Chattogram’s Karnaphuli Thana.

The passengers were on their way back to Cox’s Bazar after attending a wedding ceremony in Chattogram city. Seven others have been injured in the incident, which occurred around 1:30am on Sunday.

The dead microbus passengers have been identified as Mifta, Morshed, and Ferdous Alam, from the Uttar Maizpara area of Cox’s Bazar’s Eidgah Union, while microbus driver Md Hasan lived in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila. Karnaphuli Police Station Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain said, “The microbus passengers were returning to the Eidgaon area of the Cox’s Bazar district after attending a wedding event in the city’s Agrabad.”

“When it reached the College Bazar area, a covered van speeding into a U-turn rammed into the microbus. Four people were killed.”

Seven others injured in the accident have been admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

The covered van and microbus have been taken into custody, but the covered van driver and his assistant have fled. Locals worked alongside the police and Fire Service to rescue the victims after the accident. �"bdnews24
