The High Court on Sunday rejected a writ petition filed challenging the legality of a government notification banning all activities of the Bangladesh Awami League and its affiliated, associate and fraternal organisations.

The HC bench comprising Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Aziz Ahmed passed the rejection order on the ground that the petition was not properly presented before it.

Later, Deputy Attorney General Nur Mohammad Azami told media that petitioner's lawyers had earlier prayed to the court to reject the petition as it was not prepared properly. Advocates Mohammad Younus and Md Nuro Nabby Bulbul, who appeared for the writ petitioner, could not be reached for comment. Md Al Amin, a resident of Sreenagar in Munshiganj, recently filed the writ petition, seeking a stay on the effectiveness of the notification issued by the home ministry on May 12, 2025.
