First phase of UP polls set for November 12

The Election Commission (EC) plans to hold the first phase of Union Parishad (UP) elections in 80 upazilas on November 12, Election Commissioner retired Brig Gen Abul Fazl Md Sanauallah said on Monday (September 14).

He disclosed the schedule while speaking to journalists at the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The EC plans to hold the UP elections in seven phases, with voting beginning in mid-November.

The second phase is tentatively scheduled for December 13, said Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud.
