Dengue claims 8 more lives

Record 1,733 hospitalized in 24hrs

Eight more people have died of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,733 patients have been hospitalised, the highest number of dengue admissions recorded in a single day this year.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in a dengue-related press release on Monday.

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 191 are from Barishal division, 191 from Chattogram, 388 from areas outside the Dhaka city corporations, 170 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 143 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 302 from Khulna, 110 from Mymensingh, 145 from Rajshahi, 86 from Rangpur and seven from Sylhet.

According to the DGHS, a total of 53,570 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country up to September 14 this year.

With the latest eight deaths, the number of dengue deaths this year has risen to 157.
