JU announces daily scheduled power cuts

Jahangirnagar University (JU) will experience two hours of scheduled daily load shedding across its campus due to national energy shortages and reduced power generation.

The university’s Engineering Office issued an official notice in this regard on Sunday night (September 13).

According to the notification, a widening gap between electricity demand and national generation capacity prompted the measure following a formal directive from Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity-3.

Under the newly announced schedule, electricity supply across the campus will remain suspended twice daily: from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM and again from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

The notice, signed by Professor Dr. Nazmul Alam, Chief of the University’s Engineering Office (Additional Charge), urged students, faculty, and administrative staff to view the temporary daily outages with understanding given the nationwide crisis.
