Power outage during PM's address leads to Pirojpur GM stand-release

According to an official order signed by Mohammad Moinul Hasan, Director (Administration) of the REB Human Resources Directorate, Hossain has been attached to the Superintending Engineer’s Office under the Barishal Zone until further notice.

The incident took place on Saturday (September 12) during a nationwide virtual conference convened by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to strengthen dengue prevention drives.

A live broadcast was organized at the Kawkhali Upazila Auditorium in Pirojpur. However, just one minute into the Prime Minister’s address, the electrical connection at the venue failed, disrupting the feed for approximately two minutes between 9:42 AM and 9:44 AM.

Local officials expressed sharp dissatisfaction over the incident, noting that power supply remained uninterrupted across the rest of the upazila while the auditorium lost connection.

Acting Kawkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Raisul Islam stated that Palli Bidyut had been pre-notified of the event, attributing the sudden disruption to a communication gap among field staff.

Md. Kamruzzaman, Senior Deputy General Manager of Pirojpur Palli Bidyut Samity—who has now been assigned financial and administrative charge as acting GM—confirmed that a miscommunication among linemen regarding which building required power isolation caused the temporary disruption.
