Young television director Maruf Hossain dies

Young playwright and television director Maruf Hossain Sajib died early Tuesday. 

He was suffering from heart-related complications. He was reportedly treated for the condition recently and had recovered before his sudden death.

Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury mourned Sajib’s death in a Facebook post, recalling their conversations and his many creative plans.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. I did not work with Maruf Hossain Sajib bhai very often, but I met him many times. When I was regularly doing dramas, we would talk about so many things whenever we met.” 

She added that Sajib had 'so many plans and ideas' and wanted to accomplish much more.

“May Allah grant Sajib bhai Jannatul Ferdous and give his family and loved ones the strength and patience to endure this difficult time. Please keep him in your prayers.''

Sajib’s funeral prayer will be held after Zuhr prayers on Tuesday, followed by his burial at the Sector 12 graveyard in the capital's Uttara.

Known for his distinctive storytelling and direction, Sajib wrote many of his own stories and adapted them into television dramas. His work earned him several recognitions in the television industry.

Among his notable dramas are ‘Bilop,’ ‘Babui Pakhir Basa,’ ‘Rongin Kagoj,’ ‘Adhar,’ ‘Security Girl,’ ‘Tomake Pawar Jonno,’ ‘Hashi,’ ‘Bikel Belar Chhad,’ ‘Dushtu Mishti Prem,’ ‘Adorer Chand,’ ‘Jora Shaliker Ghor,’ ‘Jalkouri,’ ‘Du’jon Dujonar,’ ‘Bablar Jad ur Baksho,’ ‘Khushi,’ ‘Aj Akashe Chand Nei,’ ‘Kotha Bondhu,’ ‘Kajol Chokher Meye,’ ‘Apnara Amake Shunun,’ ‘Ajkal Tumi Ami,’ ‘100 Bigha Phool Bagan,’ ‘Mumta,’ ‘Meghla’ and ‘Nusaiba.’
