Bound body of scrap trader found, worker dies in Narayanganj

Narayanganj bore witness to what seems like a double feature of unfortunate events. The body of a businessman, found bound and stuffed inside a sack, was recovered in Sonargaon, Narayanganj; meanwhile, a construction worker died after falling from a multi-storey building in the city's Amlapara area.

Liton, a construction worker, died on Wednesday morning after falling from a multi-storey building under construction in the Amlapara area of Narayanganj city.

Sajedur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station, stated that locals had informed the police after spotting the body, lying behind the building in the morning. Police then arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the morgue. The deceased was a tenant at the residence of Alam Miah in the Deobhog Pakka Road area and the son of the late Yunus Miah from Chandpur district. It is suspected that he accidently fell to his death while working on the building. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are underway.

Meanwhile, in Sonargaon, police recovered a bagged body of Ayub Ali, a businessman who was a scrap dealer. He was the son of Altaf Hossain from the Kanchpur Uttarpara area in the upazila.

He had left his home on Monday and never returned. He ran his scrap business out of a rented warehouse belonging to the closed Jalalabad Pharmaceutical Company. Around 11 AM, locals spotted the bagged body in a ditch behind the warehouse and alerted the police. Police later arrived at the scene, where they recovered the body, and found that it had its hands and feet bound.

Abdul Barik, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station, stated that the body has been sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police operations are currently underway to investigating the killing and to identify and arrest those involved.
