Three jailed for leaking teacher recruitment test answer sheets

KHULNA, Sept 16: Khulna Cyber Tribunal Judge Arunava Chakraborty, also a senior district and session’s judge, on Wednesday afternoon sentenced three people to seven-year rigorous imprisonment and also fined each Tk 5 lakh, in default, to serve another year rigorous imprisonment for leaking answer sheets from the preliminary examination for recruitment of primary assistant teachers. 

Court Bench Assistant Gopal Chandra Pal said the convicts are Reshma Khatun, wife of Sakhawat Hossain of Ispahani Lane under Sadar Police Station, Ferdousi Afroze, wife of Belaluzzaman of Munshipara Second Lane, and Md Abul Hasan, son of Haji Alauddin of Sheikhpara Main Road.

The court, however, acquitted another accused named Mahbubur Rahman, son of Kalam Molla alias Kolom, of Gopalpur Village under Kashiani Upazila of Gopalganj District.

According to court sources, police received information in August 2015 that a fraud gang was staying in Khulna and collecting large sums from candidates by promising to send answer sheets to them by mobile phone. Detectives later raided a house on Ispahani Lane and detained the suspects. DB Sub-Inspector Bahauddin Molla filed a case.
