Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 546 people in a 24-hour operation across the capital and filed 61 cases.
DMP Deputy Commissioner for Media and Public Relations Md Akter Hossain shared the information on Thursday.
Mirpur recorded the highest number of arrests, with 152 people detained. The numbers were 86 in Wari, 74 in Tejgaon, 65 in Motijheel, 49 in Gulshan, 36 in Ramna, 35 in Uttara, 30 in Lalbagh and 19 by the Detective Branch.
Police also recovered a foreign-made pistol, a magazine, nine rounds of ammunition, drugs including yaba, cannabis, heroin and Phensedyl, along with motorcycles, mobile phones, a walkie-talkie, handcuffs, DB jackets and other items.
Three victims were also rescued during the operation.
Legal action against the arrested people is underway, the DMP official said.
