Pakistan assures equal support for students 

The Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka has assured that all qualifying students under the Allama Iqbal Scholarship Programme will receive equivalent financial support, amid queries over an apparent disparity in assistance for students admitted to Masters programmes.

In a statement issued in response to media queries, the High Commission said the modalities for disbursing financial support to Masters students may differ from those for undergraduate students, but the qualifying students would receive equivalent assistance.

The scholarship programme is a key component of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor, a flagship initiative announced by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar during his visit to Dhaka in August 2025.

The initiative aims to promote educational cooperation and people-to-people contacts between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

According to the High Commission, 74 Bangladeshi students joined top-ranking universities in Pakistan last year as the first batch under the programme.
