Who will not get salaries under the new pay scale

The government has issued the gazette on the new pay and allowances structure, but several categories of employees and workers have been excluded from the ‘Job (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026’ and will not receive the increased salaries and allowances under the order.

The Finance Division issued the gazette on Saturday.

Under the new pay structure, officials in Grade 9 and above will receive 40 per cent of the increased basic salary from July 1 to December 31, while employees in Grades 10 to 20 will receive 50 per cent during the period.

However, the following categories have been kept outside the scope of the new pay structure:

Bangladesh Judicial Service: Employees serving in the Bangladesh Judicial Service will not be covered by the order.

Defence services: Employees serving in the defence services, except civilian employees paid from defence estimates, will remain outside the new pay structure.

Police and BGB: Employees of the Bangladesh Police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will not be covered by the order.

Workers of state-owned industrial enterprises: Workers defined under Section 2(d) of the State-owned Productive Industrial Enterprises Workers (Terms of Service) Act, 2018, will remain outside the new pay structure.

Apprentices and trainees: People employed as apprentices or trainees will not receive the benefits of the new pay structure.

Outsourcing workers: People employed through outsourcing will also remain outside the order.

Daily-rated temporary workers: Workers employed under the Daily-rated Temporary Workers Employment Policy, 2025, will not receive the benefits of the new pay structure.

Contractual and part-time workers: People employed on a contractual or part-time basis will also not be covered by the order.

Meanwhile, separate gazettes will reportedly be issued for the Bangladesh Judicial Service and other relevant categories.
