Gas supply has resumed at Jamuna Fertiliser Company Limited in Sarishabari, Jamalpur, after 216 days, paving the way for the state-run plant to resume urea production.

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company resumed gas supply to the plant after it was cut off on February 15, halting urea production completely.

Acting plant manager Delwar Hossain said on Saturday night that although gas supply had resumed, it would take at least 15 days to fully restart the urea plant and return to commercial production.

The plant has a daily production capacity of around 1,700 metric tonnes of granular urea.

Fertiliser produced at the plant is supplied to 19 districts, including Jamalpur, Sherpur, Mymensingh and Tangail.
