MEP Group to invest Tk 200cr in Mirsarai EZ

MEP Group, one of Bangladesh’s oldest electrical products manufacturers, will invest Tk 200 crore to establish a modern factory at the National Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram.

The company plans to build the factory on 10 acres of land to increase production capacity and diversify its range of electrical products, including lighting, switches and sockets, circuit breakers, fans and cables.

The company announced the investment at the ‘MEP Accessories Super Offer, 2026 Grand Achiever Celebration’, held at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the capital. At the event, the keys to 78 motorcycles and two refrigerators were handed over to 80 winners.

MEP Group said the technology-driven factory will contribute to product innovation, employment generation and the competitiveness of the country’s electrical products industry.

The programme also featured an exhibition of MEP products and business discussions involving retailers, distributors and business partners.

Mohammad Fazlul Hoque, administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), attended the event as chief guest.

“MEP is one of Bangladesh’s oldest electrical products manufacturers. The company’s new investment and modern factory will help produce quality and diversified products. It will also contribute to industrialisation, employment generation and increased domestic production capacity,” he said.

Dr Jahangir Alam Chakladar, managing director of MEP Group, said the new factory would be a key part of the company’s long-term plan for improving product quality, technology, innovation and market expansion.
“We want to work with retailers, distributors and customers to make MEP one of the major contributors to Bangladesh’s electrical products market,” he said.

Shakil Alam Chakladar, director of MEP Group, said the prize distribution recognised the contribution of the company’s retailers, distributors and business partners.

The MEP Accessories Special Offer will continue from October to December 2026.

Senior MEP officials, businesspeople, distributors, retailers and media representatives attended the event, which featured winner recognition, product displays and business discussions. The company aims to expand sustainably.
