Former Ctg-3 MP Mahfuzur Rahman arrested in Dhaka

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) arrested former Chattogram-3 (Sandwip) lawmaker Mahfuzur Rahman Mita from a house in the capital's Gulshan area early Tuesday.

He was arrested around 1:30AM from a house on Road 43 in Gulshan-2, according to police.

AFM Anwar Hossain Khan, deputy commissioner of the DB’s Gulshan division, confirmed the arrest this morning.

He said a DB team conducted a raid at House 29 on Road 43 in Gulshan-2 late Monday night based on a tip-off and arrested Mita, a former lawmaker from the Chattogram-3 constituency representing the now-banned Awami League.

Mita was subsequently taken to the DB office on Minto Road, the police official said.

“Legal proceedings against him are underway,” Anwar Hossain said.
