DBBL signs refinance deals with BB for green factories and ICT sector

Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) has signed two participation agreements with the Sustainable Finance Department (SFD) of Bangladesh Bank to access low-cost credit facilities for its clients under the “Refinance Scheme for Green Factory Building and Green Industries” and the “Refinance Scheme for the Development of ICT Sector”.

A K M Nurunnabi, Director of the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, and Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan, Managing Director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank, signed the agreements on behalf of their respective organisations. Other senior officials from both organisations were also present at the signing ceremony, according to a press release.

The Refinance Scheme for Green Factory Building and Green Industries aims to promote the construction of green factories and green buildings. Building green infrastructure will enhance export competitiveness by attracting reputed buyers and help reduce environmental pollution. A total fund of Tk 1,000 crore (revolving) has been allocated under the scheme. An individual borrower can avail a maximum loan of Tk 100 crore at 5% interest.

The Refinance Scheme for the Development of ICT Sector has been introduced to support entrepreneurs engaged in the ICT sector and its sub-sectors, which currently receive high priority in the government’s development plans. Products and services produced in Bangladesh’s Hi-Tech Parks and Software Technology Parks, as well as women entrepreneurs in the ICT sector, will be given priority under this scheme. A total fund of Tk 1,000 crore (revolving) has been allocated, and an individual borrower can avail a maximum loan of Tk 50 crore at 4% interest.
