UIU team secures 4th place in global aerial robotics competition

United International University (UIU) organised a reception on Wednesday to celebrate the achievement of its Aerial Robotics Team (UART), which secured fourth place at the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2026 Competition in the United States.

The competition was held from Sept 14-17 at Skyway Range in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with 81 teams from different countries participating. Competing for the first time, UART became the first Bangladeshi team to secure a podium position in the competition.

Despite challenging weather conditions that caused 21 teams to crash, the UIU team successfully completed its mission through technical expertise and strategic decision-making.

UIU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Abul Kashem Mia praised the team’s talent, hard work and innovation, saying the achievement reflects the potential of Bangladesh’s young generation and higher education sector.

UART mentor and CSE Associate Professor Dr Riasat Azim said the success was the result of the dedication, creativity and teamwork of the students, faculty members and mentors.

The reception was attended by faculty members, students, team members, senior university officials and other distinguished guests.
