Gold shop robbed in broad daylight in Narayanganj’s Bandar

A gold shop was robbed in broad daylight in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj, with the gang reportedly looting around 7.5 bhori of gold and 200–300 bhori of silver.

A CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media on Saturday (September 26).

The robbery took place around 12:30pm on Friday (September 25) at Debashish Dhali’s shop in Dhakeshwari Bazar under Bandar police station.

Shop owner Debashish Dhali said a group of 10–12 robbers suddenly entered the shop and assaulted him while threatening him with locally made weapons. They took 3.5 bhori of gold from a customer, around 4.5 bhori of gold ornaments from the shop’s drawer and 200–300 bhori of silver.

Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jamal Uddin said police were sent to the scene after receiving the report. Although the victim has not yet filed a complaint, police arrested one person after reviewing CCTV footage.

The arrestee has reportedly confessed to his involvement, and efforts are underway to arrest the others.
