8 more die of dengue, 1,432 hospitalised

Eight more people died of dengue in the country in the 24 hours to Saturday, while 1,432 patients were hospitalised with the viral disease during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in their regular dengue bulletin on Saturday that of the deceased five were from Khluna division while two from Dhaka division and one from Dhaka South City Corporation area.

With the latest deaths, the number of dengue fatalities this year has risen to 219. 

The report said among the deceased, 122 people died of dengue in September 26 so far, while 43 people died of dengue in August, 36 in July, 13 in June and one in May. Two people died each in January and February.

According to Friday's DGHS data, 1,432 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours. The number of cases this year has reached 71,536. So far, 66,251 patients have been discharged from hospitals, including 1,424 in the past 24 hours.
