US warns visa overstayers could face permanent travel bans

The embassy issued the warning on its official Facebook page on Saturday (September 26).

According to the message, holding a US visa does not guarantee admission to the country. The immigration officer at the port of entry determines the duration and conditions of a traveller’s authorised stay.

The embassy said that overstaying the authorised period or engaging in activities not permitted under the visa category could result in a permanent bar on future travel to the United States.

It also reminded visa holders that they are responsible for using their visas in accordance with the applicable rules and conditions.
