Quebec helicopter crash claims 4 lives

The crash occurred shortly after 2:30 PM (local time) on Saturday (September 26) in Saint-Brigide-d'Iberville, located approximately 50 kilometers from Montreal. Emergency personnel responding to the scene found the aircraft engulfed in flames and subsequently declared all four occupants dead on site.

Provincial police officer Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau stated that the identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed, though preliminary assessments indicate it was a privately owned helicopter.

The investigation into the incident is being led by the Major Crime Unit of the Sûreté du Québec (Quebec Provincial Police), in coordination with crime scene specialists and investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

Police reported that the crash site is located along Rang des Joncquilles, near Highway 10.

Authorities were alerted via an emergency call reporting a helicopter in distress that had potentially crashed and caught fire. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within an hour, while investigative and recovery operations continued at the scene until late Saturday night.

Police noted that confirming the identities of the deceased may take several days.
