Trump posts map labelling Strait of Hormuz ‘Trump Strait’

US President Donald Trump has posted a map on his Truth Social platform showing the Strait of Hormuz labelled “Trump Strait”, shortly after Iran proposed reopening the strategic waterway within a week under certain conditions.
The post showed the waterway marked as “Trump Strait”. Trump had also previously posted an image describing the Strait of Hormuz as “New U.S. Territory”.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear talks if the United States lifted its naval blockade, removed oil sanctions and accepted a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian left New York for Tehran after attending the United Nations General Assembly and holding indirect discussions with the United States.
Pezeshkian responded to Trump's threats in his UN speech but said Tehran was keeping the path of diplomacy open.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's military said it had intercepted a ballistic missile launched by Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen. The Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the attack as a threat to regional security.
Iraq also said it was continuing direct contacts with the United States to secure an exemption for Iranian aircraft amid US sanctions.
In another development, Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank continued attempts to take control of Palestinian water sources and traditional springs.
