Law and order situation declines sharply in seven months: Porwar

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Porwar has alleged the country’s law and order situation has deteriorated sharply during seven months of the current government, with ruling party activists allegedly involved in violence, extortion, attacks and land grabbing in different areas.

He made the allegation at an emergency briefing at Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar in the capital on Monday evening.

Golam Porwar said various political parties and civil society groups expressed concerns over the country’s deteriorating law and order situation, while alleging the home minister remained silent on the issue. People are gradually losing the confidence in the government.

He further alleged the ruling BNP has been trying to establish control through party-based syndicates from metropolitan areas to districts, upazilas, unions and villages, resulting in unabated violence and disorder.
