New DCs appointed in four districts

The government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) in four districts—Tangail, Nilphamari, Patuakhali and Pirojpur.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification on Tuesday announcing the appointments.

Deputy Secretary of the Finance Division Md Humayun Kabir has been appointed DC of Nilphamari, while Chowdhury Ashraful Karim has been appointed DC of Patuakhali. Deputy Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry Md Golam Rabbani has been appointed DC of Pirojpur.

Pirojpur DC Abu Sayeed has been transferred to Tangail as DC.

Meanwhile, Nilphamari DC Mohammad Nairuzzaman has been appointed joint secretary to the Social Welfare Ministry, Tangail DC Sharifa Haque joint secretary to the Home Ministry, and Patuakhali DC Mohammad Shahid Hossain Chowdhury joint secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The three officials were recently promoted from deputy secretary to joint secretary. DCs are generally appointed from among deputy secretary-level officials.
