A Dhaka court on Wednesday remanded Diamond World Managing Director Dilip Kumar Agarwala for four days in an attempted murder case linked to the July 2024 uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order after rejecting his bail petition. The police had sought a 10-day remand for interrogation.
Public prosecutor Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon said Agarwala was shown arrested in the case after completing a one-day remand in a money laundering case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
According to the investigating officer, the remand was sought to uncover the incident, identify other suspects and recover weapons allegedly used in the attack. The remand petition claimed that Agarwala was present at the scene with other accused.
The case was filed by Abdul Jabbar on March 27, 2025, over an alleged shooting in front of BNS Centre on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Uttara on August 5, 2024. Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina is among 50 named accused, while 100 to 150 unidentified people were also accused. Agarwala is listed as accused No. 31 in the first information report.
Agarwala was arrested in a money laundering case in Banani on October 19, 2026. He was previously released from jail on October 1, 2025, after securing bail in several cases.
