2 crude bombs explode in ICT area, one held

Two crude bombs exploded on a road opposite the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
Police arrested a 23-year-old youth, identified as Rezaul Islam, in connection with the incident. He is currently being interrogated.

Dhanmondi police said the two bombs exploded one after another on a paved road in front of a house on Road 11/A in Dhanmondi at around 12:30am. Police arrested Rezaul while he was trying to flee the scene.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Akhtar Hossain said in a release on Wednesday afternoon that, during preliminary interrogation, Rezaul told police that an unidentified man had approached him at a tea stall in the New Market area 10�"12 days earlier and offered him Tk 50,000 to carry out a bomb blast in front of the ICT.

Rezaul also told police that he had surveyed the area on September 28 as part of the plan. He later went to the spot around midnight and detonated two crude bombs before attempting to flee through an alley, where police caught him.
