Mymensingh: Cousins drown in pond

Two children drowned in a pond in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday.
The deceased were Jannat, 2, daughter of Lal Mia of Sangramkheli village, and Rafi Mia, 2, son of Rubel Mia of Anand Bazar area in Char Betagair union. They were maternal and paternal cousins.
The incident occurred around noon in Sangramkheli village under Sherpur union.
According to locals, Jannat and Rafi were playing near their homes at noon. At one point, they accidentally fell into a nearby pond. Family members began searching for them and later recovered their bodies from the water.
Md Azharul Islam officer-in-charge (OC) of Nandail Model Police Station said, ''police visited the scene after receiving the information. At the request of the families, permission was given to bury the bodies without autopsy.''
