Actress and development worker Raffiyat Rashid Mithila has embarked on a new professional chapter by joining the prestigious Columbia University in the US as a researcher while also starting her career in academia.
Mithila announced the milestone on her official Facebook page, confirming her role as an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University's Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.
In her new capacity, she will lead the design and evaluation of the New York-based Early Childhood and Family Hub project. The initiative focuses on early childhood development, family engagement, and public health, primarily targeting families with children aged zero to five.
Alongside her research role, Mithila has joined the City University of New York (CUNY) as an Adjunct Assistant Professor teaching Non-Profit Management. The position allows her to introduce students to real-world operational insights from non-profit organizations.
Reflecting on her journey, Mithila expressed deep gratitude to BRAC, where she served for two decades, including 15 years with BRAC International. She stated that her extensive development experience will be crucial in aligning evidence-based research with local community needs.
