Chaos erupted at the ‘Rock N Rhythm 5: No Limits in the Zone’ concert at Jamuna Future Park in Dhaka on Friday evening, prompting complaints from attendees over the organisers’ security arrangements and event management.
The concert’s main attraction was rock star Mahfuz Anam James and his band Nagar Baul. The disorder reportedly broke out as they took the stage on October 23.
After the event, several attendees shared their experiences on social media, including in various band-related groups. Some posts alleged that people without tickets had entered the venue.
Videos circulating online showed chaotic scenes at the concert, with some attendees chanting “fake, fake”. In one video, a person criticised the event management, alleging that many people had entered without tickets. Other videos showed damaged barriers, while some people were seen attempting to climb over them to enter the venue.
Several attendees also told journalists that stones had been thrown at them, with some claiming they were hit. One attendee blamed the incident on inadequate security arrangements by the organisers.
Some concertgoers also alleged that drugs were brought into the venue and reported pushing, scuffles and assaults.
Many ticket-holders expressed disappointment with the event management by organiser Adventor Communications. Police personnel were reportedly deployed to control the situation.
The organisers have yet to issue a statement addressing the allegations.
