Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has called Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay her “lucky charm,” recalling their successful collaborations in three Tamil films and praising his decision to leave cinema for politics.
Speaking on the cooking reality show 'Celebrity Master Chef Tamil', Samantha made the remarks during a challenge in which she was asked to name her favourite star. “He is my lucky charm. I worked with him in three superhits,” she said.
Samantha was referring to their collaborations in 'Kaththi' (2014), 'Theri' (2016) and 'Mersal' (2017), all of which achieved commercial success.
She also praised Vijay for choosing a political career after reaching the peak of his acting career, describing his transition from cinema to public service as inspiring.
“He is an inspiration as a person,” Samantha said, highlighting his decision to become a leader and take on governance responsibilities despite having millions of fans.
She added that leaving cinema at the height of one's career to enter politics was not an easy decision and said Vijay had chosen the right time to make the transition.
Vijay entered politics in 2024 by launching the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), after establishing himself as one of Tamil cinema's leading stars.
