Iran has unveiled its Pars-2 remote-sensing satellite, which it says can capture images with a resolution of better than three metres.
Iranian Space Agency chief Hassan Salarieh announced the development at a Space Week event organised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Sunday (October 4).
Pars-2 is an upgraded version of Iran’s Paya satellite and has been added to the country’s launch programme, Salarieh said.
He described the completion of Pars-2 as a new milestone in Iran’s space programme, which has also seen progress in telecommunications satellites, launch vehicles and orbital transfer technology.
Salarieh said Iran is also working to develop its capability to place heavier satellites and payloads into orbit using the Simorgh carrier rocket.
