United States President Donald Trump has warned that any attempt by Democratic Party lawmakers to launch impeachment proceedings against him following their midterm election victories would ultimately destroy their own party.
Addressing reporters at the White House on Wednesday (November 4), Trump dismissed concerns over potential legislative challenges or impeachment efforts following Tuesday's (November 4) midterm election results, which saw Democrats gain control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
"I am not worried at all," Trump stated when asked about potential impeachment actions over his administration's policy decisions, including recent military operations in Iran and border enforcement measures. "I think if they do that—if they impeach for no reason—it will destroy the Democratic Party. For what? For building a successful country? Our country is now more successful than at any time in its history."
During the 20-minute interaction on the White House lawn, where he showcased a ongoing ballroom construction project, Trump refrained from directly addressing the Republican electoral losses.
Responding to queries regarding the election outcome, Trump suggested his absence from the ballot influenced the result. "If I had been on the ballot, I would have won. In the rallies before the election, we received immense support, but we could not transfer that to individual candidates," he remarked.
The statements follow a social media post published late Tuesday on Truth Social, where Trump congratulated the Democratic Party on their victory, acknowledging their successful campaign performance.
