Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claimed that US forces have retreated more than 1,000 kilometers away from Iran’s borders.
Speaking in an interview with Iran’s state-run Press TV, Fadavi asserted that the withdrawal was not a voluntary decision by Washington, but rather a direct result of strong resistance mounted by the Islamic Republic and the IRGC.
Fadavi claimed that there is currently no US naval presence in Iranian or adjacent territorial waters, including the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that this marks the first time US naval vessels are entirely absent from the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman, and the northern Indian Ocean, alleging that American warships remain vulnerable to IRGC strikes.
The IRGC commander's assertions come amidst an ongoing US naval blockade on Iranian ports. US Central Command (CENTCOM) recently reported that it has redirected 125 commercial vessels since July to strictly enforce compliance with maritime regulations and sanctions.
