US President Donald Trump has formed a “Super Intelligence Force” (SIF) to oversee the US government’s approach to artificial intelligence and help maintain the country’s leadership in the technology.
The task force will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton and include Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon technology chief Emil Michael and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. It will work with AI companies, consumers, public-interest groups, religious organisations and critical infrastructure providers, and report directly to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The move comes as the Trump administration seeks to accelerate AI development while addressing potential risks. The task force will examine existing laws, AI-related threats and possible government responses, with a report due within 120 days.
Trump has also directed the US executive branch to use “Super Intelligence” or “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” or “AI” in official communications.
