Rain likely in parts of Bangladesh today

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at one or two places in all eight divisions on Tuesday (October 6), according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

According to BMD forecast, rain may occur at one or two places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours starting from 6:00PM on Monday (October 5).

Elsewhere, the weather may remain dry at some places. Day temperatures may fall slightly across the country, while night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.

The Met Office said the axis of the monsoon trough extends from Bihar, West Bengal and the southern parts of Bangladesh to Assam. The southwest monsoon remains less active over Bangladesh and weak over the North Bay.

The southwest monsoon may withdraw from Bangladesh within the next 72 hours, the weather office said.
