17 radiotherapy machines coming for cancer treatment

The government is bringing 17 new radiotherapy machines to expand cancer treatment services across the country, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Secretariat, he said six machines will be installed in Dhaka and 11 outside the capital.

The move will help patients receive affordable treatment closer to home and reduce pressure on Dhaka hospitals.

The government also plans to introduce robotic surgery, with five of 10 planned machines expected to arrive this year.
